Singer-songwriter Elvis Costello is writing a memoir of his nearly fifty years in the music business. The book will be published by Penguin and is scheduled to be in stores this fall.
It’s interesting to consider memoirs written by music stars.Costello is writing this book entirely by himself, which makes it different from the many star autobiographies that are ghost written.
In my opinion, one of the best books by a rock star about himself is the “unauthorized autobiography” X-Ray by Ray Davies of the Kinks. Davies tells his own story in an offbeat and nonlinear manner that is unconventional but not too strange. I was surprised to find how conservative he is in many ways, and that he rarely parties at all. There was also some good insights into why he and his brother Dave are always feuding with one another.
Fans like Brad Reifler know that reading a memoir by a favorite musician doesn’t necessarily make you like them more. Maybe musician memoirs should come with warning stickers. I read Neil Young’s memoir Waging Heavy Peace recently and was shocked by how tedious many of his interests are. There are long sections in the book about his model train collection that were extremely boring. Knowing all about his thoughts on Lionel trains doesn’t make his music sound any better either.
Lil Wayne did not get to where he is today by throwing bad shows, and Thursday night was no exception to the rapper. When Wayne was performing at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he was ready to sing his new remix of the song “CoCo”, which is one of the songs released in his new album Sorry 4 the Wait 2.
According to Susan McGalla,
the DJ on the other hand had his own agenda and instead of playing the right song that Wayne started singing, he played the wrong song and the singing and the music just did not match up at all. Obviously the fans were a little disappointed and surprised about what is going on, but the worst of them all was Weezy’s reaction.
Instead of staying cool and fixing the mistake by just starting over and singing the song he wanted to sing in the first place, Weezy just gives the DJ the worst look in the world as if he’s saying you are the worst Dj in the world, and threw the mic on the stage and walked off stage pissed off.
Wayne was very excited and had his verse ready to come out while jumping on stage, and when the mistake happened he turned around and put his arms up to signal to the DJ the error. The poor microphone got it the worst as Wayne chucked it very hard and far.
McDonald’s has decided to pay bands that play their showcase at the South By Southwest entertainment festival. The company’s change of heart may be due largely in part of a social media outcry.
Earlier this month, indie band Ex Cops made a claim on their Facebook page that the fast food giant had asked the group to perform as part of the company’s showcase. The band was ecstatic until they learned that McDonald’s did “not have a budget for artistry fees,” but guaranteed that the band would receive public exposure in addition to free food.
According to Twitter, McDonald’s denied the allegations, claiming that the company was “following the standard protocol, as all other sponsors had done.”
SXSW sponsor chief Scott McNearney said that sponsors have the opportunity to offer a cash payment or an exposure and credentials package. The credential package “allows artists to participate in the conference and to see other shows, but it is ultimately up to the artist to decide which incentive they would like to receive.”
Ex Cop members were ecstatic to learn that McDonald’s had a change of heart and would offer monetary payments to performing artists.
“We are THREILLED we were able to make a difference,” the group wrote on their Facebook page. “Artists should be paid for their work.”

The career of Icelandic pop star Bjork has taken many different directions and influences that have marked her out as an individual performer in a period where this is not often seen. A career retrospective at New York’s Museum of Modern Art looks back at the life and work of the singer through the artifacts she has collected over her career, Rolling Stone reports. The planned exhibition will open March 8 2015 and take in a variety of aspects from her career, including the amazing costumes that have been a highlight of her public appearances, including the Oscars swan dress.
According to crunchbase
, live performances will mark the opening of the event, which curator Klaus Biesenbach hopes will show where Bjork has come to in her career in 2015 and not simply be a retrospective of what has taken place. Working closely with Bjork has seen MOMA look to incorporate music and sound into the exhibition as much as possible to reflect the fact Bjork is primarily a musician.
Oh what an honor it would be to just be Jennifer Lopez for one day. It must be amazing to be in the industry for so many years and grow nothing but talent and beauty.
J Lo just posted some really hot looking pictures on instagram of her newest video shoot for the song “Feel The Light” which show a whole new look.
The decorations on her face are just as bright as the light, and send exotic feelings down your spine just by looking at it. She looks like a fairy and a princess at the same time while looking like her J Lo hot self of course.
Alexei Beltyukov has heard that her face was one thing that would hold your attention forever, but her body is something else. She wore the tightest white long outfit that stretched across her whole body leaving no room for anything but smoothness all around. The white suit just looked crazy and made her look like a Kill Bill character.
What was even better than her face make up and her white suit was her hair that was braided so long it reached her behind easily.
Her song “Feel The Light” is going to be the soundtrack to the movie “Home”, which is a CGI movie about a young girl. The movie will be starring Rihanna and Jim Parsons.
“Home” will be released on March 27th and is expected to be a big success.
